Eye Cream Review: Avene, Balance Me, Bobbi Brown and L'Occitane

Since February I have gone from owning one to owning four eye creams. Here's what I have to say about them:

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream

15 ml £29

My Bobbi Brown eye cream is the one I started out with back in February. I bought it after using up my It's Potent by Benefit eye cream (which I loved!) as missglamorazzi or Ingrid, and AllThatGlitters21 or Elle, wouldn't stop talking about how much they loved theirs. 

I didn't buy the exact one they had, the Extra Eye Repair cream, as it cost £38 at the time (now it's £40 :O). That's £10 more than the one I bought (at the time). Also at 22 years old I think it's safe to say that I can stick to purely hydrating ones for the time being, no extra repair needed! As such I'm not reviewing the same product they used, but it's still a Bobbi Brown eye cream so here goes:

Pros: very rich and creamy.

Cons: price, smelled funky/chemically after 6 months (which is how long the packaging says it's good for anyway).

It's also worth a mention that I read on Beautyholics Anonymous 'LINK!' that it gave her milia (or bumps/whiteheads) on her under eye area and it did the same for me. It's nothing major, they go away after 24 hours of not using the cream but still - pretty gross! You can see that I have about a month's worth of product left but I've stopped using it as it's definitely gone off :/.

Bottomline: I enjoyed using this eye cream when I first got it, it's definitely a luxury skincare item! Seeing as the price keeps increasing and it caused some breakouts in my under eye area, I definitely won't be repurchasing this. There are a lot of cheaper and better eye creams out there! (see below ^^).

L'Occitane Precious Eye Balm

15 ml £29

I came across this amazing eye cream last Christmas when i got a sample of it in my L'Occitane gift set. Wowee this product was absolutely perfect! I knew I wanted to try the Bobbi Brown one next so I didn't shell out for this baby until a couple of months ago. (And by shell out, I mean bought a tiny pot of it that came with the L'Occitane facial spray which I reviewed last month 'LINK!').

Pros: rich, non irritating, very moisturising.

Cons: price.

Bottomline: I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this, it is awesome!! I use it both in the morning and the evenings. I would recommend it to anyone as it's super hydrating, creamy, luxurious, smells great and doesn't irritate my sensitive under eye skin at all!

Eau Thermale Avene Soothing Eye Contour Cream

10 ml £9.50

I picked up this eye cream back in April when Boots were having a 3 for 2 offer on skincare. I had been using my Avene thermal water spray for the past year and wanted to see what else the brand had to offer. While I haven't tried the Clarins Eye Contour Cream (which costs £36.50 for 20ml), I have a feeling this would be a great dupe for it based on the reviews I've read and heard about it. It's important to note that for me personally, this doesn't offer deep moisture so I would still have to own another eye cream that's richer and more hydrating for night time. 

Pros: Light in texture (perfect for daytime), affordable, non irritating.

Cons: none.

Bottomline: As a light daytime cream, this product does exactly what it says and is super affordable to boot! 

Balance Me Extra Care Wonder Eye Cream

10 ml £14 or 15ml £20

I was familiar with the Balance Me brand thanks to a She Said Beauty box a while back. I love how the brand is super organic, absolutely no parabens, sulfates, or any other chemical bad-boys! When UK Glamour magazine offered free samples last month, I went CRAZY. If you follow me on Twitter you would've seen my shoutout for this offer! I bought the cleanser, eye cream, and face cream (at £2 each!). I loved the first two so much that I went ahead and bought an extra one of each as backup. They're perfect travel sizes and at such an affordable price!! I'm clearly over the moon about this. I wish I'd picked up a backup for the day cream as well but I didn't want to be excessive (too late?). It doesn't have an SPF so I use it as a light night cream. Balance Me are so awesome in that you can choose several sizes of each product at reasonable prices from their website. This means you can order a £3.50 tube of cleanser to try out all on its own first without having to commit to the bigger tube. I'm way way impressed with them! Other skincare brands should take note.

Anyway back to the eye cream! It's a super moisturising and creamy so I use it mainly at nighttime. I occasionally use it in the mornings if my skin is feeling extra dry. I would recommend buying the 10ml tube as it's both cheaper and you can squeeze almost all of the product out when it's finished. The 15ml version comes in a plastic pump which means you probably won't be able to use 5-10% of what's left when you've run out. You would only be saving £1 with the larger size anyway.

Pros: Very creamy, great organic brand, non irritating.

Cons: none.

Bottomline: If you're on the hunt for a gentle, affordable, organic ultra moisturising eye cream, look no further.
