I was at the hairdressers today, trading in my red/plummy-with-bright-violet hair for warm brown with blonde ends raked through, and decided to go on Bloglovin' while the bleach worked it's magic.
Am I glad I did!
I clicked on THIS blogpost about Molly Young, a writer from New York. Before I go any further, I would like to give a shoutout to Into the Gloss simply because that blog offers almost daily doses of my favourite post: a hybrid of 'what's in my makeup bag', 'what's in my bathroom', 'what are my skincare faves' and 'my beauty regime overall'. How perfect is that?? I used to buy ElleGirl magazine back in the day mostly for their one page (or two if you're lucky) feature delving into a celeb's bathroom and finding out what her must-have beauty products are! *sigh* <3 <3

Back to Molly Young! That girl changed my life in the sixth paragraph. She said that most mascaras stop working after two weeks and they just don't do to your lashes what they did in the first two. They dry out, get all clumpy - just plain old stop working their magic. I have 3-4 mascaras open at any given time anyway, and I definitely notice that they go off after the second week on average. Nevertheless I tell myself that I need to get my money's worth so I stick it out, using the dried out/clumpy/decaying formula for another 6-8 weeks.
I so so agree with Molly, and wouldn't we all want a fresh new tube of mascara every 2-3 weeks? Not to mention the hygiene benefits! I understand this new rule will be quite heavy on the pockets however, I pretty much only ever use drugstore mascaras nowadays and with Boots' 3 for 2 offers I reckon it won't be so bad. I'm not complaining either as whenever I'm in there I actually have to make a conscious effort to not buy a new mascara. Seriously. You don't have to twist my arm to get me to pick up a couple more ^^
I totally recommend Into The Gloss' blogpost on Molly Young to anyone who's as obsessed with beauty as I am, I'm sure you'll love it too! Who knows, you might jump on my 2-week mascara bandwagon ;)
Xx
Hmmm I kind of agree with what you are saying... It really annoys me when Mascaras can dry out after the first 3 weeks, and it can even be the really good ones too! I think that nowadays the drugstore mascaras work just as well and cost a fraction of the price of high end brands. So I am with you on this mission! :)
ReplyDeleteFor real! So annoying when it's the good ones >:( That's why I've held out on getting the YSL Shocking mascara even though I'd love to try it!
DeleteYay for joining me on this mission! It will be a blast trying out plenty more mascaras! Xx
